In this section you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions about MIVV exhausts.
Commercial information
MIVV does not sell directly to end users. MIVV exhausts can only be purchased through our dealer network.
Photos of all systems, where available, can be found in the “Search for MIVV exhausts” section and in the news on our website.
Under normal conditions, MIVV delivers to the dealer within 48-72 hours of receiving the order. However, if the system is not in stock, delivery may be delayed by a few days.
To become a reseller, we recommend contacting our local agents. You can schedule a meeting to discuss a potential partnership and the resulting commercial terms.
Maintenance
First, always wait for the exhaust to cool before cleaning. Use a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and a non-abrasive cleaner. Car shampoo, for example, is ideal. Titanium and stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned regularly with a penetrating oil spray. A light coat of this spray makes maintenance easy. A clean, soft cloth can be used to clean the carbon fibers. Avoid using a pressure washer or steam cleaner to clean the exhaust surface.
After prolonged use and/or high performance, the exhaust’s insulation material may begin to wear out. If necessary, your MIVV dealer can offer advice on replacing the insulation material. Possible signs of this include increased noise levels and external discoloration. In this case, we recommend replacing the insulation material inside the muffler immediately to prevent further deterioration. Our warranty does not cover any discoloration of the jacket due to worn insulation material.
Exhaust modifications
MIVV systems are designed exclusively for the specific model, and compatibility is indicated if necessary. MIVV does not recommend installation and/or adaptations on unforeseen models. Furthermore, in these cases, the system loses its warranty and approval, which are also specific to each motorcycle model.
We’re sorry, but we don’t supply manifolds separately from the terminal. It’s therefore important to carefully evaluate whether to purchase just the terminal or the entire system.
Diameters and measurements vary from model to model and are technical information we choose not to disclose. However, they are designed and selected to achieve the best performance levels in terms of both torque and power.
Type-approval
No. The approval number stamped on the muffler is sufficient to prove the system’s approval. MIVV also provides a specific certificate in the kit to be presented in the event of an inspection.
Simply contact customer service at customerservice@mivv.it, indicating the model of your motorcycle and the approval code stamped on the exhaust. A copy of the certificate will be sent immediately by email.
Our systems are approved for both noise emissions (Directive 97/24/EC, Chapter 9) and pollutant emissions (Directive 97/24/EC, Chapter 5). Catalyzed systems are available for most motorcycle models with “e-kat” approval. For more information on the availability of catalytic converters, please contact customer service at customerservice@mivv.it.
System performance
MIVV systems are designed to function optimally without further modifications. The data we publish is obtained in this configuration unless otherwise indicated. The use of an additional control unit with corresponding mapping or the installation of an aftermarket filter could further improve power delivery and overall performance.
MIVV does not produce or sell aftermarket control units, as it specializes in the production of exhaust systems.
MIVV exhausts undergo rigorous bench testing before being released for sale. It’s important to note that these tests are conducted only on production motorcycles, where the original system is replaced with a MIVV one. Generally, the results of the bench tests translate into an increase in torque and power, the value of which depends on the motorcycle being tested and the specific conditions created in the laboratory (atmospheric pressure, humidity, air temperature, etc.). These results are published on our website through graphs (dynocharts) that compare the torque and power curves of the MIVV exhaust with those of the original (stock) exhaust.
Depending on the motorcycle, there are some cases where the EX-UP valve must be removed. When this is done, there are no problems with power delivery. Some motorcycles where the control unit emits an alarm signal are supplied with a kit to deactivate the alarm.
In some cases, depending on the motorcycle, removing the original muffler also involves removing the original fitting where the lambda sensor is housed. When this happens, our systems always include a fitting to which the sensor can be reassembled.
All MIVV exhausts are designed to give the bike a more aggressive and captivating sound, while always respecting the limits imposed by law. The choice between the various product types is therefore primarily aesthetic.
