The 13th round of the 2026 Moto3 World Championship took place at MotorLand Aragón, marking Zen Mitani’s return to the grid after missing the British Grand Prix and the previous round due to a hand injury sustained at the Dutch GP. Veda Ega Pratama arrived in Aragón motivated after his ninth-place finish at Silverstone.

The Friday practice sessions got underway in good weather conditions, although both riders struggled to find the right feeling with the track. Pratama finished both sessions in P20, while Mitani ended the day in P25 as he progressively rebuilt his confidence after almost two months away from racing.

On Saturday morning, Pratama remained P20 in the final practice session and was unable to secure a direct spot in Q2. The Indonesian rookie then finished Q1 in eighth position, leaving him P22 on the grid. Mitani continued his process of rebuilding his rhythm, setting the 26th-fastest time in the morning before taking P11 in Q1, placing him 25th on the starting grid.

The race summed up the challenging weekend.

Starting from P22, Pratama made a strong start, steadily gaining positions and climbing as high as P16, close to the points. However, as the race progressed, the Indonesian rookie struggled to maintain consistency and slipped back into the fight for the top 20, eventually finishing P20.

Starting from P25, Mitani focused on rebuilding his race pace and confidence. After a positive opening seven laps, running with the group and gaining valuable experience, a series of mistakes saw him lose pace and drop out of contention for the points. He crossed the line in P23. For the Honda Team Asia it is time to put a difficult weekend behind, analyse the challenges and come back stronger and ready for Misano in two weeks’ time.

It’s a race and a weekend that I have to forget. I feel like during this week I was stuck and I couldn’t make the improvement we wanted. During the race, I was able to move forward from P22 and at one point I reached P16, so I was getting close to the points. But then I started to lose some positions and struggled to maintain the pace and consistency. Still, I learned some lessons from this race, and now we know better where my problems are. The team also understands what we need to work on. It’s disappointing, but there is nothing more we can do about this weekend. Now we need to turn the page, work on my weak points and try to be better at the next race.

MOTO3: ZEN MITANI #32

The main focus of this race was to get my feeling back after being away for almost two months. In the beginning, for around seven laps, it was quite okay. I could follow the group, gain some experience and do more laps, so that part was positive. After some laps, though, I started making too many mistakes and my lap time dropped a lot. Physically I’m okay, but I know I still have a lot to improve, especially to get my confidence and race rhythm back. After such a long break, I know I need some time. Every lap is important for me at the moment, and I will keep working to get stronger. Now we go to Misano, which is a special weekend for the team and for me because it is like a home race for my side of the team. I really want to enjoy the weekend with everyone and hopefully give them a nice result.

It was a really hard race for both riders. We were expecting a very different story and a different result, but unfortunately both riders had different issues during the race. Both started to lose grip as the race progressed, which didn’t help. In the first part of the race they were competitive, but from the middle of the race Veda started to have some problems stopping the bike and made several mistakes, which cost him a lot of positions and consistency. Zen had a different situation. After two months away from racing, he was focusing on getting his feeling back, but during the race he started to make mistakes and lost lap time. He also had some discomfort in his hand during the race, which made it more difficult for him to handle the bike. We didn’t have this problem yesterday, so it was something unexpected. We will have his hand checked in Barcelona to understand exactly what the situation is.  Overall, Aragón was a difficult weekend and it was not the result we expected. Now we need to analyse the problems properly, understand what happened and come back better at the next race.
